Marian St. Clair speaks at Dec meeting

November's speaker, Marian St. Clair, shared lessons about shade gardens and talked about developing a perceptive eye when it comes to gardening (see the full story in the December issue of Clippings).

Many thanks to Forrest Greenslade for sharing these photos of October's pollinator garden tour at Chatham Mills in Pittsboro. Garden Club members (left) enjoy the profuse blooms of some of the garden's unique plant species and listen to Chatham County Agriculture Agent Debbie Roos (in pink) explain the workings of her bee "hotel."

The Fearrington Garden Club had yet another hugely successful and fun field trip! We went to Glass Half Full in Carrboro for lunch and then on to Southern States for an hour's talk on "Container Gardening for Decks and Patios". We learned all about the different kinds of containers available and which ones are best to withstand the cold. The knowledgeable ladies at Southern States discussed the right way to start a container for herbs; what kind of soil and containers are best for orchids; how to enrich the soil in containers from year to year and so many other really useful tips.

More than half our members attended which was a record turnout for us! We had several brand new members who attended this event. Thanks to everyone for your support and we look forward to seeing you all on February 18 at the Gathering Place to hear Laura Kiper discuss "Trouble Spots In Your Garden".
